Te Tahi Youth Receives Christchurch Civic Award.

We are humbled and proud to share that Te Tahi Youth has been honoured with a Christchurch Civic Award for our services to young people and the wider community of Ōtautahi.

The Christchurch Civic Awards recognise organisations, groups, and individuals who have made a significant contribution to the city, through volunteerism, impactful social services, or long-term commitment to the wellbeing of Christchurch’s people and environment.

Receiving this award is a huge honour: it means our work, every day, is seen and valued, from our frontline nurses and youth workers to the admin team, volunteers, and partners. For us, it’s a recognition of the belief that every rangatahi matters, and that when we walk alongside them with respect, care, and consistency, we can help build brighter futures.

On Friday 5 December, members of our leadership team stood proudly at the ceremony to accept this award on behalf of the entire Te Tahi whānau. It was a moment to honour all the mahi done behind the scenes, the quiet everyday wins, and the resilience of rangatahi who trust us with their wellbeing.

Why this is such a big deal for us? It’s a city-wide vote of confidence. This award tells Christchurch: Te Tahi Youth is here, doing meaningful work, and making a difference for young people.

It raises awareness. We hope this recognition helps more rangatahi, and whānau, know that support is out there, with people who care.

It encourages momentum. Awards don’t change everything, but they remind us why we do what we do: to show up, stay hopeful, and keep working for rangatahi, even when the challenges are big.

To everyone who plays a part, staff, volunteers, funders, supporters, and rangatahi – thank you. This award is as much yours as it is ours.

Ngā mihi nui ki a koutou katoa.
