Te Tahi Youth is now offering Basic Life Support and CPR Training, giving our community the chance to gain practical, life-saving skills while directly supporting rangatahi.
The sessions are led by Toby Hilton, a Registered Nurse and certified Emergency Care Instructor through the New Zealand Resuscitation Council. Drawing on the latest ANZCOR Basic Life Support Guidelines, Toby brings years of clinical experience and a calm, encouraging approach to help learners feel confident in responding to real-world emergencies.
During the hands-on workshop, participants learn how to recognise and respond to an emergency, manage airways and breathing, perform CPR, use an AED (automated external defibrillator), and provide basic first aid for common injuries. The focus is on practical learning, getting plenty of chances to practise, ask questions, and build confidence in a supportive environment.
Once the course is complete, participants receive a First Aid & CPR certificate, valid for two years. More importantly, they leave knowing they have the knowledge and skills to act quickly and effectively when it matters most.
What makes this training even more special is that every dollar raised goes straight back into Te Tahi Youth’s services, helping ensure that young people across Ōtautahi continue to have free access to medical, wellbeing, and employment support.
If your workplace, organisation, or community group is interested in booking a session, we’d love to hear from you.
