Te Tahi Youth is your one-stop shop for everything you need: support for your health, your goals, and your life, all in one place.
We’re here for young people aged 10–24 in Ōtautahi. At Te Tahi Youth, you don’t have to figure things out on your own. We’re a one-stop shop where you can get the support you need in one place.
That means:
- Medical care: for anything from a check-up to ongoing health concerns.
- Mental health support: counselling, social work, and safe spaces to talk.
- Youth development: help with life skills, confidence, and making the most of opportunities.
- Employment support: training, CV help, and pathways into work.
And the best part? It’s all free.
We work as a team, so if you need more than one type of support, your nurse, counsellor, and youth worker can connect with each other (with your permission) to make sure you’re getting the right help at the right time.
You’ll meet people who are friendly, accepting, and experienced in working with rangatahi. We know reaching out can feel hard, but you’ll always be welcomed just as you are. And everything you share with us is confidential (unless we’re worried about your safety – and if that happens, we’ll talk it through with you).

Our story.
Supporting rangatahi since 1995.
Te Tahi Youth began as the 198 Youth Health Centre, founded by Dr Sue Bagshaw (now Dame Sue Bagshaw) with a clear vision: to provide free, accessible health services to Ōtautahi rangatahi. Inspired by one-stop youth services overseas, she wanted a place where young people could get the support they needed, and feel like they belonged.
After the Christchurch earthquakes, we reopened as 298 Youth Health, and today we are Te Tahi Youth, a name that reflects how our services have grown and evolved. Our values of compassion, acceptance, resilience, and encouragement guide everything we do, ensuring every young person who walks through our doors receives the support they need.
