As part of the continued evolution of our Youth Work programme, Te Tahi Youth is launching a new 15-week fitness and wellbeing programme for rangatahi aged 12–18.
This programme has been designed for young people who would benefit from additional support to build confidence, strengthen wellbeing, and stay engaged, offering a space that is active, supportive, and focused on real-life skills.
What the Programme Offers
Delivered from The Loft at Eastgate Mall, the programme combines physical activity with practical wellbeing support. Participants will be supported by experienced youth workers and health professionals, with access to Te Tahi nurses throughout the programme.
Rangatahi will have the opportunity to build:
- Confidence and self-belief
- Physical fitness and healthy habits
- Resilience and coping strategies
- A sense of connection and belonging
The programme is free to attend, with transport available (pick-up and drop-off from school by Te Tahi staff, with limited spaces).
How It Works
The programme runs over 15 weeks, with a clear and supportive structure:
- Weeks 1–3: Individual engagement and goal setting (including school holiday check-ins)
- Weeks 4–13: Weekly group sessions (1 hour, combining fitness and wellbeing)
- Weeks 14–15: Wrap-up, celebration, and a final team challenge
Throughout the programme, participants are encouraged to take ownership of their journey, with opportunities to help shape the direction and feel of the sessions.
What Makes It Different
This isn’t just a fitness programme. It brings together movement, mental wellbeing, nutrition, and recovery in a way that feels practical and relevant for young people.
There is a strong focus on creating a space where rangatahi feel comfortable showing up, trying new things, and building confidence over time. The programme is particularly aimed at supporting young women who may be at risk of disengaging, helping them reconnect in a positive and supported way.
Working with Schools
We are working alongside local schools to identify and refer students who would benefit from:
- Increased confidence and self-esteem
- Additional wellbeing support
- Positive peer connection and structured activity
- Schools can refer students directly to Te Tahi Youth.
