Mentoring support

We’ll help you find your strength, so you can follow your path.

We know at times it can be tough to find your way through life. That’s why we’re here.

Our team of Youth Workers and Youth Coaches know and understand young people – straight up. They’re here to help you grow and while they can’t do the mahi for you, they will back you 100% while you work towards your goals.

Our mentoring support service includes helping young people with:

  • Advocacy
  • Life skills
  • Navigating community support services
  • Access to and support of education
  • Budgeting skills
  • Housing support
  • Assistance to access financial support e.g. Youth Payment
  • Support when you're feeling stuck in life

So if you need some help to find your way, get in touch.

The Youth Coach Team are open for referrals.

Our dedicated Youth Coaches will embark on a journey with each ākonga (student) throughout an entire school term.

What's their mission? To elevate engagement levels, enhance outcomes, and increase ties to vital support services, as well as address the underlying causes resulting in disengagement from learning and provide early intervention.

Referral criteria for ākonga:

  • They are aged 12-21 and are disengaged, or at risk of disengaging from education, training, or employment
  • There is a need for increased wellbeing support
  • There is limited family support and/or connection to a positive role model
  • They may be struggling with acceptance or isolation from their peers

If you’re unsure about the criteria, or if there’s a young person who’s unsure whether the programme is for them, email gary@tetahiyouth.org.nz. We’re happy to chat.
