A promotion and a move across the ditch has resulted in a new nursing line-up for Te Tahi Youth.
Kate Struthers is a new addition to the nursing team, joining Te Tahi Youth after moving back to Ōtautahi from Brisbane.
“When I saw the job advertised at Te Tahi Youth, I was immediately excited about the role. When Jo offered me the position it was a no-brainer to say yes – I knew we’d make a great team,” Kate says.
The Jo she talks about is Jo Kirrane, a Te Tahi Youth Nurse who has now been promoted to Senior Nurse/Clinical Lead.
Jo, who has been working at Te Tahi Youth since 2022, is excited to see what the new team will achieve – especially in her new senior role!
“We have a trusting, respectful relationship where we can bounce ideas off each other. With our vast nursing experience together we can provide excellent, evidence-based practice,” Jo says.
Offering booked appointments for 10 to 24-year-olds as well as drop-in clinics, every day is different. Jo and Kate can help with physical and sexual health, mental health and trauma, gender-affirming care and much more. All the services are free, making it easily accessible for the rangatahi of Christchurch and surrounding areas.
Kate says she is excited about Jo’s big ambitions for the mainly nurse-led clinics.
“Our shared commitment to quality care will truly make a difference in our community,” Kate says.
Jo’s vision for 2025 is to deliver the highest standard of care for young people, focusing on their unique health needs and concerns.
“We strive to create a supportive, trusting environment that encourages open communication, empowering our rangatahi to take charge of their wellbeing and supporting them to prioritise their health,” Jo says.
Whatever you need, Jo and Kate are there to help.
